Sydney Harbour Federation Trust
The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust was set up by the Australian Government to plan for the future of former Defence and special Commonwealth lands around Sydney Harbour. The sites were once hidden away from public view, but today the Harbour Trust offers tours, education programs, events, exhibitions, a range of picnic spots and picturesque walks and various business and community tenancies.
The Harbour Trust wants to create lasting legacy for Sydney. The lands contain historic buildings and areas of pristine natural vegetation, magnificent views of the harbour and a record of our city's Aboriginal, maritime and defence heritage. The cultural heritage of the lands will be conserved, the environment protected and maximum public access provided.
The Comprehensive Plan sets out a vision for these sites and includes a process for preparing more detailed management plans for specific precincts, places or buildings.
