Ken Unsworth Exhibition

A major exhibition by celebrated Australian sculptor Ken Unsworth opens today on Cockatoo Island. Titled A Ringing Glass (Rilke), the artwork is a moving tribute to Ken Unsworth’s wife Elisabeth.

For the next month one of the most daring and unusual art events mounted in Sydney by a single artist will be on view to the public. This extraordinary project combines art, music and dance in four huge galleries located within the grand industrial space of the Turbine Shed. A series of multimedia installations are set inside the architectural rooms which were specially constructed for the occasion. The final real-life element in the project has been provided by the guests on the opening night who were filmed as they danced, viewed and moved through the spaces.

A beautiful, romantic and personal tribute, A Ringing Glass is unlike anything seen in Sydney before. Ken Unsworth’s most ambitious work to date is shaped by the memories of a life and creative partnership of 53 years.
