Volunteering
Our dedicated team of volunteers help to make our harbourside parklands so special. Volunteers range in age and experience but share a high level of enthusiasm for the people, history and unique importance of the Harbour Trust sites.
Join the Volunteer Team
We are always keen to meet new recruits for the volunteer team. Our volunteers currently take part in programs across several key Harbour Trust sites. Volunteers with a range of skill levels are welcome and training will be provided to help volunteers fulfill their roles. Opportunities are currently available in the following volunteer roles: Heritage Conservation Volunteer and Heritage Gardening.
Heritage Conservation Volunteers needed on Cockatoo Island
The Heritage Conservation Volunteer Team on Cockatoo Island are looking for skilled tradespeople or simply those with an interest in conserving heritage equipment, including lathes, large planning machines, huge electric cranes, steam cranes & even maintaining a wooden boat. The program is run each Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. Training & equipment is provided.
You don't need any formal qualifications to contribute to our team. However, we are always looking for people with knowledge and experience in areas such as electrical fitting, pattern making, fitting and turning, blacksmithing, boiler making, carpentry, sign writing and engineering. Volunteering Australia
The volunteer program adheres to the guidelines set down by Volunteering Australia. All Harbour Trust volunteers have both rights and responsibilities, and are provided with training, opportunity for social interaction and a Harbour Trust uniform. Volunteers are supervised by the Visitor and Volunteer Services Manager.
