The Boys from Cockatoo is a high quality art book that captures life on the island during its industrial heyday. Nix’s paintings and drawings evoke a largely masculine world of boilermakers, fitters and turners, painters and dockers, and dozens of other trades involved in shipbuilding. The large format book is a beautiful record of Cockatoo Island’s past as Australia’s biggest shipyard. It is available for sale on the island, at the Trust’s office in Mosman and at the North Head Visitor Centre. |
