Lookouts

We'd like to let you in on a secret: our new parklands have opened up magnificent vistas that were closed to the public for generations. There are magic isolated spots to sit and gaze at the view or lovely lookouts with breathtaking vantage points over Sydney Harbour. Pack your camera and enjoy these special places.

Georges Head Lookout

Georges Heights Lookout

The showpiece of Headland Park, Georges Heights Lookout is the perfect place to view a panorama of Sydney Harbour. The vantage point is defined by an elegant sandstone platform allowing visitors to catch stunning harbour views of the Heads, Pacific Ocean, eastern suburbs and city skyline. The new lookout was designed by award-winning architect Richard Leplastrier and opened in 2007.

Woolwich Dock

Woolwich Dock Lookout

A dramatic platform perched high above the head of the dock, this lookout reminds us that Sydney's is a working harbour. Look down to see the historic Woolwich Dock that has serviced ships for over a century or gaze across to Cockatoo Island, once the site of Australia's biggest shipyard. Or simply enjoy splendid views of the Lane Cover River, Balmain peninsula, city skyline and the Harbour Bridge.

North Head

North Head Sanctuary Lookouts

The walking tracks on North Head lead not only to pristine bush, heathland and hanging swamps but also to a couple of remarkable Sydney lookouts. The City Lookout offers a beautiful vista of the city of Sydney with its grand harbour spread out before it, or check out the Northern Lookout to see the string of coastal headlands that jut out into the Pacific Ocean. Both lookouts are walking stops on the Gunners' Walk.
