Harbour Trust: Get InvolvedOverviewLocal communities have played, and continue to play, a key role in protecting many of the lands around Sydney Harbour. The Harbour Trust is building upon this and working alongside the community to produce effective plans for the eight former Commonwealth lands to conserve them into the future. Creating
a mural at the North Head Open Day, June 2005The Harbour Trust is mindful that it is not dealing with a single community. There are many different communities, groups and individuals with varying interests. We need to understand all of the issues associated with each of the lands and balance the interests of all the different communities to develop the best possible outcome for the lands and for Sydney. Through establishing a Community Advisory Committee and broader community consultation activities, the Harbour Trust will obtain feedback from the community. The Harbour Trust is consulting with the broader community to inform people about our progress and encourage involvement in the planning process. This is being conducted through activities such as exhibiting plans, holding public meetings, workshops and open days, an events program, regular newsletter and media articles.
