North Head Sanctuary - School Excursions

North Head Sanctuary, located in the former School of Artillery near Manly, was opened to the public in May 2007 after decades of military occupation. Featuring endangered vegetation communities, a hanging swamp, sandstone cliffs and a complex of historical military buildings, North Head Sanctuary is an ideal location for HSIE site studies and fieldwork.

A new school excursion program has been developed for Stage 6 Geography students studying Biophysical Interactions. This excursion allows students to participate in a series of hands-on experiential activities to gain experience in essential fieldwork skills for this subject and for their Senior Geography Projects.

Primary excursions and other secondary HSIE topics will be developed further in 2008.
