New Track Opens on Middle Head

The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust has opened a new walking track that now completes a spectacular harbourside walk that allows the community to walk from Taronga Zoo to Manly.

Member for Warringah, the Hon Tony Abbott MP, was on hand to officially declare the track open before 130 assembled guests and local community members.

Mr Abbott then led the crowd up the 300m track, which borders a rare Angophora forest and passes by a pocket of temperate rainforest.

This new section of walking track takes advantage of the last remaining opportunity, on publicly owned land, to complete the scenic harbour walk that now extends from Taronga Zoo to North Head, Manly.

Track Opening Times

The new walking track will be open from sunrise to sunset, every day of the year. Closures may occur during days of high bushfire risk.

Visitor Information

All visitors to the new walking track are encouraged to enjoy the views and help to protect this important piece of urban bushland by:

  • remaining on the dedicated track at all times;
  • not removing any soil, plants or rocks from the bushland;
  • not smoking along the route of the track; and
  • respecting our neighbours by not making excessive noise.
