Opening hours and entry
Headland Park is open every day of the year.
Entry is free.
The park is always accessible, but please be aware that the walking track gates are only open from sunrise to sunset.
Getting there
Headland Park is located on Middle Head Peninsula on Sydney Harbour.
By car:
Headland Park is located on Middle Head Peninsula. Access via Middle Head Road, Mosman. Parking is available on site. Chowder Bay can be reached via Chowder Bay Road, Mosman.
Parking at Middle Head precinct, Mosman.
Restoration of Headland Park's Middle Head precinct is underway. The project includes restoring buildings for re-use, landscaping, and upgrading parking facilities. Two new paid car parks have opened. More about parking at Middle Head

By bus:
Sydney buses connect to Headland Park during week days. The 244 bus links Wynard Station in Sydney's CBD to Chowder Bay. There are a number of bus stops located around the park's perimeter on Middle Head Road and the last bus stop is located at Chowder Bay. The 247 bus route from Wynyard terminates at Mosman Junction seven days a week.

By ferry:
Bus services connect with the ferry service to Taronga Zoo from Circular Quay. The 238 bus meets the ferry at the Athol Wharf below Taronga Zoo. Alight on Middle Head Road (before the bus turns left at Beaconsfield Road for Balmoral) and walk ten minutes to reach Headland Park.

By foot:
Walking tracks link the park to Georges Heights, Balmoral and Taronga Zoo via Bradleys Head. Note that the walking track gates at the Balmoral entrance and Chowder Bay entrance are opened at sunrise and closed at sunset. For further information see Walks and Self-guided Tours
By water:
Vessels (including water taxis) may drop off and pick up passengers for Chowder Bay at the public wharf opposite Clifton Gardens and may anchor off the beach.
Visitor facilities
Toilet facilities are located at the Artist's Precinct at Georges Heights, near the oval at Georges Height, in Building 2 at Chowder Bay and behind the beach at Clifton Gardens.
Children's playground located at the Clifton Gardens Reserve at Chowder Bay.

Access
Headland Park has wheelchair access and disabled toilet facilities. While most areas of the park are wheelchair accessible, keep in mind that it is a natural environment and some of the surfaces are uneven. The bush walking tracks include some stairs and some low to medium inclines. There are steep stairs from the waterside at Chowder Bay to the Georges Heights precinct that are unsuitable for wheelchairs or strollers. At Chowder Bay wheelchair-accessible parking is located on Chowder Bay Road.

Security
A team of rangers patrol Headland Park during daylight hours.

Visitor Code
We welcome visitors to Headland Park and Chowder Bay and invite you to wander about the park and discover its magnificent views and historic places. For the safety and enjoyment of all park users, and to help protect plants and animals, please follow the Visitor Code:
- remain on the dedicated tracks at all times when walking through bushland;
- do not remove or disturb any soil, plants, wildflowers or rocks from bushland;
- do not feed native wildlife;
- no lighting of fires or portable BBQs;
- do not smoke along bush tracks;
- parking is restricted to designated carparks;
- no bicycles, skateboards or scooters on footpaths and bush tracks;
- no model aeroplanes or remote controlled toys;
- do not camp overnight;
- do not erect tents, marquees, or temporary shade structures without a permit;
- do not climb on walls, fortifications, cliffs or sculptures;
- keep dogs on a leash at all times;
- do not leave dog waste on the ground;
- no dumping of vegetation, soil or litter;
- take your rubbish with you; and
- respect our neighbours by not making excessive noise.
Our rangers are on duty in the park to answer any questions and ensure these guidelines are followed.
