Public Consultation – Have Your Say
Owing to their ongoing advocacy work and active participation in our public consultation processes, advisory committees and volunteer program, the members of the community contribute enormously to our vision of creating extraordinary places on the world’s best harbour that are inspiring, loved and shared.
From greeting visitors and facilitating history tours through to presenting community talks and maintaining the heritage value and beauty of our sites, our volunteers play a vital role in the Harbour Trust’s endeavours. Find out how you can get involved in our volunteer program.
Did you ever live or work at Cockatoo Island, Sub Base Platypus or one of our other extraordinary sites? If so, we’d love to hear from you! As part of our ongoing Oral History project, we’re gathering stories that will help us vividly bring to life the history of our sites for future generations.
Our public comment and exhibition periods, advisory committees and online feedback form are some of the channels through which we consult with the public.
We regularly seek the views of local communities, special interest groups and visitors to ensure community expectations around the use of our lands are met. This involves making draft plans and proposals available for public comment and exhibition. Find out what is currently available for public comment.
The volunteer members of the Harbour Trust’s Community Advisory Committees (CAC) meet with us as required to share advice and recommendations on the use of our lands. We are also collaborating with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Group on the implementation of our Reconciliation Action Plan.

The Harbour Trust is currently delivering major projects that achieve the aspirations for our heritage sites outlined in our Management Plans and Comprehensive Plan..

The Harbour Trust accepts requests from community groups and organisations to sponsor events. In exchange for serving as a sponsor for your event, we can offer vouchers for Cockatoo Island’s waterfront campground.
