Now available for visitors to enjoy, In Defence of Sydney is a 60-minute circuit walk spanning five stops at Middle Head / Gubbuh Gubbuh. At each stop, visitors use their mobile device to scan a QR code to get an insight into the area’s military history through audio and imagery. The walk is also an opportunity for visitors to experience the area’s beautiful bushland and spectacular harbour views.
In Defence of Sydney complements work underway by NPWS to explore the military history of Middle Head / Gubbuh Gubbuh through physical signs. This interpretation is due to be installed in early 2023.
The Harbour Trust and NPWS invite feedback from visitors who do the trial interactive walk. Following an initial three-month period, feedback will be evaluated to help refine the technology and broaden the walk’s themes.
The Harbour Trust and NSW National Parks are committed to delivering a seamless visitor experience across our adjoining parklands.
Both organisations acknowledge the Cammeraygal and Borogegal Peoples as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of Middle Head / Gubbuh, including the sky and surrounding waters. We recognise the continuing connection First Nations Peoples have to Middle Head / Gubbuh Gubbuh. It is significant and must be appreciated.
