From its picturesque beaches and coastal bushland through to its thriving community and harbourside lifestyle, there’s much to celebrate about Mosman…

…and with Festival of Mosman returning for a jam-packed, 10-day program in October, there’s no better time to celebrate!

Between 18 and 27 October, local organisations, community groups and businesses will host range of activities that showcase what makes Mosman so special.

This year, the Harbour Trust is getting in on the action with a trio of events at Georges Heights on the Mosman Peninsula. These include an open air concert as well as a tour and free talk exploring Mosman’s military history. Full details below...

Sunset Sessions: Outdoor Gig

Date: Saturday, 19 October | 3pm to 5pm

Cost: $30 per adult, children (12 and under) free

Fresh off a string of sold-out shows at Cockatoo Island, our popular live music series – Sunset Sessions – is migrating to Georges Heights, Mosman for a special, picnic-style concert on the lawns of the Headland Park Artist Precinct. Kick-back and enjoy the harbour views as our featured performers – Bonnie Stewart and Declan Kelly – ensnare you in a web of roots, reggae and experimental folk songs. Pack your own picnic or graze on the charcuterie platters available from the Frenchy’s Café pop-up bar.

The Headland Park Artist Precinct at Georges Heights, Mosman is home to the Headland Artists – a collective of painters, potters, sculptors and photographers. To celebrate Festival of Mosman, the Headland Artists are hosting two events for the community: Open Studios Day (19 Oct) and an exhibition at the Landship Gallery (19 Oct to 27 Oct).

Trust Talk: The Military History of Headland Park

Date: Tuesday, 22 October | 10:30am to 11:30am

Cost: FREE

The latest instalment in our series of free Trust Talks will explore the military history of Mosman’s Headland Park. Guest Presenter, Major Chris Ballantine of the Australian Army (retired), will discuss the significant role Headland Park played in the defence of Port Jackson between 1788 and 1945. He will also shine a light on the various military fortifications (above and below ground) and the army units that were based in the area.

Featuring gun emplacements, underground tunnels and military relics dating back to the 1870s, Headland Park in Mosman was crucial to Sydney's defence throughout World War II. During this guided tour, our guide will vividly share the history of this demilitarised location, surrounded by beautiful coastal bushland and spectacular views over the harbour.
