A message from Joseph Carrozzi, Harbour Trust Chair: "I am very pleased to share that the future of the Harbour Trust is now guaranteed following the Royal Assent of Commonwealth legislation, which came into effect last week."

The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust Regulations 2001 are due to sunset on 1 October 2021. New draft regulations have been prepared to replace them. The public is invited to comment on the exposure draft Sydney Harbour Federation Trust Regulations 2021. Submissions are invited until 5pm on 19 July 2021.

The Geographical Names Board is seeking community feedback on the Harbour Trust’s proposal to dual name Cockatoo Island as Wareamah. The closing date for submissions is 16 July 2021.

The next stage of Sub Base Platypus, one of Sydney’s hidden foreshore gems, is nearing completion, with the Harbour Trust releasing the final look and feel for the renewal of the Torpedo Factory.

The Harbour Trust is delivering the next stage of renewal works at Sub Base Platypus; namely, the creation of additional parkland through the adaptation and interpretation of the Torpedo Factory. Opportunities for the community to learn more include a design exhibition and drop-in sessions.

Sub Base Platypus in North Sydney has been recognised by the National Trust, Australia’s leading conservation body, as an exemplary case study for adaptive re-use.

On now until 9 May 2021, the heritage-listed Retort House at Sub Base Platypus is the home to the Australian National Maritime Museum’s Remarkable exhibition. This touring exhibition details the stories of Sydney’s river systems and coastlines, spotlighting the people who lived and breathed the waterways.
