Updated: Historic wall repaired at North Head Sanctuary

The Harbour Trust is carefully restoring a stone wall at North Head Sanctuary, Manly that partially collapsed due to an extreme weather event in March 2022. Unprecedented rain during this event led to a rapid build-up of water at the base of the wall, undermining its foundations.

Endangered Sunshine Wattles find new home at Headland Park, Mosman

Over the next month, approximately 500 tubestock-sized Sunshine Wattles (Acacia terminalis subspecies Eastern Sydney) will be planted adjacent to bush tracks and revegetated areas at Headland Park, Mosman.

Cockatoo Island / Wareamah event raises over $1.1m to address youth homelessness

On Friday 27 October, Stepping Stone House held their annual fundraiser, Sleep Under the Stars, at Cockatoo Island / Wareamah. The event was distinguished by strong social purpose and community involvement and the Harbour Trust is proud to have been this year’s venue partner.

The Harbour Trust today announced the release of its draft master plan for Cockatoo Island / Wareamah, which outlines a vision to reactivate and transform the island into the vibrant heart of Western Sydney Harbour.

Cockatoo Island / Wareamah Draft Master Plan released for consultation

The Harbour Trust has released a draft master plan for Cockatoo Island / Wareamah for public exhibition. The Cockatoo Island / Wareamah Sanctuary Draft Master Plan is available for feedback on the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water consultation hub until 5pm AEDT Wednesday 13 December 2023. Opportunities to learn more include a webinar (6 Nov), drop-in sessions (various dates) and a community forum (18 Nov).

Macquarie Lightstation celebrates 205th anniversary with special tour

To celebrate the 205th anniversary of Macquarie Lightstation becoming operational, we are holding a special tour on Thursday 30 November. As you explore Macquarie Lightstation, a knowledgeable guide will share the stories of this significant navigational light source. PLUS: You’ll ascend the lighthouse to discover the lantern room and emerge onto the balcony for a sweeping view of Sydney Harbour and the Pacific Ocean. Tickets available from $16 per person.
