Harbour Trust launches what3words for accurate location reporting and emergency response

The Harbour Trust has launched what3words across all our extraordinary places on Sydney Harbour, making it easier for visitors, tenants and contractors to communicate precise locations quickly and accurately. This innovative geocoding system will significantly improve safety and emergency response capabilities.

With extensive walking tracks and intricate landscapes, it can be difficult to pinpoint a precise location at our destinations for quick assistance. However, with what3words, this is no longer an issue. By providing emergency operators with your unique three-word address, you can rest assured that help will be dispatched to their precise location swiftly and efficiently.

About what3words

What3words is a user-friendly method of identifying and communicating precise locations anywhere on Earth. While it does not replace more traditional ways of locating people in trouble (addresses and GPS), it is another useful tool.

Available for use by everyone, what3words is free of charge and supports over 45 different languages. Each 3-metre square has been assigned a unique combination of three words that converts to GPS coordinates. For instance, the North Head Sanctuary Visitor Centre can be found at [///dent.churn.flips]. With this simple three-word address, visitors, tenants and contractors can now report their locations to our team or emergency services with ease and accuracy.

Using what3words app in conjunction with the Australian emergency services Emergency+ app is highly recommended before any visit to our places. Both apps can be downloaded for free, enabling users to be well-prepared for any unforeseen situations.

Keep an eye out across our destinations for our new emergency signs that have been updated to include what3words addresses.

With what3words, the Harbour Trust ensures a safer and more efficient experience for all our visitors. For more information and to start using what3words, visit: what3words.com
