Cockatoo Island’s new audio tours, developed by Art of Multimedia, were regarded as among the best entries in the state and received a formal recognition from the judging panel – a significant achievement.
Cockatoo Island is a place of heritage landscapes, each tour blends together curated narratives from first-person accounts and specially designed audio effects that immerse visitors in moments of the past bringing Cockatoo Island’s spaces to life, allowing visitors to feel history as well as see it.
Harbour Trust Head of Curatorial, Research and Production Nerida Campbell said:
‘We are honoured to be recognised. The clever use of technology for our audio tours reawakens Cockatoo Island history in digital heritage experiences and storytelling delighting visitors every day. It gives visitors another option to learn more about the history of Cockatoo Island at their own pace from their own mobile phone.’
