Notice of prescribed burn at North Head Sanctuary on 22 September

NSW Fire & Rescue has advised they will be conducting a planned burn for the Harbour Trust at North Head Sanctuary, Manly on Monday 22 September (weather permitting).

The proposed burn area of approx. 1.5 hectare is bounded by the western side of the Gun Park, the walking tracks between the Gun Park and the rear of houses on St Barbaras Avenue. The burn is expected to commence at approx. 5pm and be completed within a few hours.

The burn will require closure of the Gun Park and all bush walking tracks and trails west of North Fort Road, within North Head Sanctuary, for the duration of the burn and until made safe (see map).

For safety and environmental reasons, tracks and trails may be closed after the burn until further notice.

The planned burn will help to improve protection to nearby properties and is beneficial for the regeneration of native species and biological diversity.

People with known health conditions can sign up to receive air quality reports, forecasts and alerts via email or SMS from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
