Ahead of Earth Day on 22 April, the Harbour Trust has launched its Green Week campaign, highlighting sustainable initiatives from the Harbour Trust, our tenants and partners.

From 17 to 23 April, we will be spotlighting a range of eco-friendly initiatives across our digital channels. From recycling programs to reducing plastic and eco-friendly events, we have joined hands in making a positive impact on our planet. Through collaboration with tenants and partners, the Harbour Trust is dedicated to nurturing a culture of sustainability and contributing positively to the environment.

As Earth Day approaches, it presents an opportunity for us all to make time to visit places of natural beauty and reflect on the importance of environmental conservation. Crafty Critter Instagram Contest

We’re on the hunt to find for the most creative animals designed from reclaimed or recycled materials, and we’re running an Instagram contest to find them. Whether your child made their eco-friendly animals during Reverse Garbage’s workshop at Sub Base Platypus Save & Swap Day or at home, we want to see their creations! The top 2 entries will win a double pass to our Sub Base Stories Tour and have their masterpiece featured on our social media channels. Entries close at 9am AEDT Monday 22 April.

Sydney Institute of Marine Science (SIMS): Safeguarding Australia's critical coastal environments

Nestled in Chowder Bay and Georges Heights in Mosman, SIMS serves as a dynamic hub for collaborative research and training, dedicated to safeguarding Australia's critical coastal environments. Just last year, SIMS successfully released 300 juvenile endangered White’s seahorses at Chowder Bay. This release marked the culmination of a White's seahorse breeding program meticulously carried out at the SIMS aquarium.

Kids activity: Create your own recycled boat

Engage in some hands-on fun with your children by constructing a recycled boat! Gather plastic or cardboard containers that typically find their way into the recycling bin for this eco-friendly project.

Cockatoo Island / Wareamah reusable water bottles and recycling program

Last year, we introduced reusable aluminum bottles to all Cockatoo Island camping guests during New Year’s Eve. Now, they're included in our Premium Waterfront Package welcome pack! Recently, we've also expanded recycling efforts to include glass and aluminum drink containers on Cockatoo Island, alongside significant progress in paper and cardboard recycling. Thanks to the tremendous support from our tenants on Cockatoo Island, our paper/cardboard bins program has achieved remarkable success!

Sub Base Platypus Swap & Save Day

Join us on Saturday 20 April, from 11am to 3pm, for our free Swap & Save event at Sub Base Platypus in North Sydney. Trade in your pre-loved clothes, books and toys for fresh finds in a fun, sustainable and budget-friendly way! Plus, keep an eye out for our new posters (pictured), crafted from waterproof cardboard, a sustainable and biodegradable alternative to plastic.
