Level 2 near the Blue Torpedo (near High Street), Torpedo Factory Precinct, Sub Base Platypus (120 High Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060).

Google Maps

Sub Base Platypus in North Sydney hasn’t always been a community recreation and work hub. Previously, the historic waterfront site hosted a gas works, torpedo factory and submarine base.

This 60-minute tour is an opportunity to explore a historic destination that was off-limits to the public for 150+ years! Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you’ll explore the lower and upper levels of Sub Base Platypus, including the Torpedo Factory Precinct.

Unveiled in September 2023, this contemporary precinct boasts a decommissioned Mark VIII torpedo, amongst other historical artefacts, as well a sweeping view of neutral Bay and an original, 3 piece artwork that celebrates Country.

This tour is accessible to people with wheelchairs and mobility scooters and for visitors with varying levels of mobility. All areas of the site are accessible via ramps and a lift. Accessible toilets are also located on site.
