    Visitor destinations (general)arrow
    • Visitor centres: Our volunteer-run visitor centres at Cockatoo Island and North Head Sanctuary are closed until further notice.

    • Cockatoo Island: Public access to Cockatoo Island is suspended until further notice. Consequently, our tours, accommodation and vacation care offerings have also been suspended and the island’s cafés are closed. Rangers and security will continue to patrol the island during the lockdown period.

    • Other destinations: Headland Park (Mosman), North Head Sanctuary (Manly), Sub Base Platypus (North Sydney), Woolwich Dock and Parklands, and the grounds of Macquarie Lightstation (Vaucluse) remain open to the public. For details about cafés and restaurants, see the ‘Food and beverage venues’ section below.

    • Visitor health and safety: We have established enhanced cleaning protocols with respect to available public facilities at the above destinations; however, members of the public are advised to carry bottled water as we have deactivated all water bubblers. People who attend any of our destinations must follow rules around social distancing and basic hygiene. If you are feeling unwell, please do not visit any of our sites. The current advice of NSW Health is for people to stay at home and avoid unnecessary travel, and to get tested if you have even the mildest of symptoms. Check the NSW Health website (nsw.gov.au/covid-19) for updates and guidance.
