A Fabulous Harbour Walk: Taronga Zoo to Balmoral Beach
The last section of this amazing harbourside walk was completed
by the Harbour Trust in May 2005, and is now open for your enjoyment.
Spectacular views, historic sites and maybe a coffee along the way!

| Description |
Why don't you take yourself on a fabulous walk from Taronga
Zoo to Balmoral Beach....or vice versa!
You can now walk from Taronga Zoo to Balmoral Beach, taking in
breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour, passing through native bushland
and historic military sites that have been closed to the public for
more than 100 years.
The full walk passes through parts of Sydney Harbour National Park,
Mosman Council reserves and Harbour Trust lands. |

Open Every Day - Sunrise to Sunset. Closures may occur
on days of high bushfire risk. |

| Visitor Information |
All visitors to the new walking track are encouraged to enjoy the
views and help to protect this important piece of urban bushland by:
- remaining on the dedicated
track at all times;
- not removing any soil, plants or rocks from the bushland;
- not smoking along the route of the track; and
- respecting our neighbours by not making excessive noise.
The walking track is unsuitable for dogs as the track passes through
national park and council reserves. |

Woolwich Dock and Parklands
A magnificent hand-carved sandstone dry dock, historic buildings
and city skyline views await you on this interesting walk through Woolwich
Dock and Parklands.

| Description |
The magnificent Woolwich Dock, carved into the sandstone cliff-face,
is now open every day sunrise to sunset.
The Woolwich Dock and Parklands walking track starts opposite the
Woolwich Pier Hotel on Gale Street, goes down the Goat Paddock with
magnificent views over Sydney Harbour and to the city.
The Harbour Trust has recently completed a new raised walkway around
the head of the dock so that visitors can fully appreciate the amazing
dimensions of this hand-carved dry dock.
The track then passes by several historic army industrial buildings
and connects with a walking track through Clarkes Point Reserve. |

| Visitor Information |
Woolwich Dock is a tenanted site, and is currently undergoing works
to create a maritime village, complete with working boatyard and cafe/restaurant.
All visitors are encouraged to enjoy the views while:
- taking care when walking through the Dock working area;
- heeding any warning signs as to truck or boat movements;
- not removing any soil, plants or rocks from the bushland;
- not smoking along the route of the track; and
- respecting our neighbours by not making excessive noise.
Dogs are welcome (strictly on leashes) to Woolwich Dock and Parklands,
however owners should take note of restrictions on nearby Clarke Point
Reserve. |

Lower Georges Heights, Mosman
A park with spectacular views of Sydney's heads, all within an
artist colony!

| Description |
Set within the grounds of a former military depot, the parkland
at Lower Georges Heights offers visitors spectacular views, free public
barbeques, picnic space and delightfully refurbished buildings that
house a range of artists, art schools and conservators.
Lower Georges Heights is also on the Taronga to Balmoral Walk, so
it's perfect for families, the daytripper or the serious bushwalker. |

Marine Biological Station Park, Watsons Bay
An award-winning park that provides access from Watsons Bay to
Camp Cove.

| Description |
A new small park that provides a space for passive recreation and
improved linkages between Watsons Bay and the beach at Camp Cove.
The footpath features interpretive information of the site and the
adjacent historic house - known as the Marine Biological Station.
In 2005, the Harbour Trust's work on the park was recognised with
a Commendation for Design in Landscape Architecture from
the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects. |

park, however are reminded that as the park is in a residential area,
visitors should respect the neighbours and not make excessive noise.
