The Harbour Trust’s restoration and activation of Cockatoo Island’s heritage steam cranes received a Highly Commended recognition in the Enduring category for the 2025 National Trust (NSW) Heritage Awards which took place on Friday 16 May 2025.

The historic sandstone walls at North Head Sanctuary are currently being restored by the Harbour Trust. This project will restore the structural integrity of the site’s walls – sections of which have been damaged by environmental factors – and ensure their heritage values are protected.

On Wednesday 26 February, more than 200 White’s Seahorses (Hippocampus whitei) were released and rehomed off the Eastern Apron of Cockatoo Island. This operation was undertaken by the Sydney Institute of Marine Science (SIMS) in partnership with Harbour Trust. It marks the first release of these endangered creatures into Sydney Harbour this year.
On 2 January 2025 the Harbour Trust became aware of an incident of tree vandalism at the Horse Paddock, adjacent to Alfred Street, Woolwich.
